A Well Laid Plan & Beginner's Luck
Realising that to come anywhere in the Sorcerer War on 7th August would be impossible if I relied on skill alone, I had devised a cunning plan. The strategy was simple: hide until there was only one player left and then clobber him while his stam was still low. I decided on the steps to the Music Temple as my hiding place where I could sit in comfort, having first grabbed all the boats and a bit of sensible kit. There would be plenty of time to do this during the warm up period.
Well that was the plan.
I arrived forty minutes late which left little time for me to get my act together. I started off kitting myself out with what I call ‘essentials’. Sticking to the plan I started to look for boats. A quick ‘wh boat’ listed seven, one with Sneaky, one which would have suited me but no one else under the circumstances, four impossible to get to and one just difficult to get to. Sneaky, who had six kills already, was on the Vicious Rocks. That meant everyone else was also trying to get to a boat to get to Sneaky. I wasted a lot of time trying to get to the one difficult one.
Later, innocent in my wanderings, I came across Hitmegood and Sneaky battling it out in the North Lush pasture. I did the sensible thing and watched while they tired themselves out intending to come in at full stam in the last few seconds. So much for my plan to lie low 'till it was nearly over. Sadly I left it too late and by the time I had entered the command they had both gone. But then they came back. First Hitmegood whom I immediately attacked making him flee, then Sneaky who managed to slip away before I got the command in.
A little later on Sneaky attacked me and very soon it was my turn to flee. I managed to escape with all my kit and a good bit of Sneaky’s too including the CC. (If you don’t know how to flee and keep your kit - I’m not telling you here - nor anywhere else for that matter). At last with me having one boat and a second one difficult though not impossible to get to, I could put my plan into action. I went to the Music Temple and bided my time.
It was incredibly boring. I fidgeted about, longing for action. Instead of waiting for one survivor, I crept out when there were two left, Hitmegood and Eviltharg. I dodged around The Land for a bit and came across them fighting it out in a Dense Forest somewhere. This time I did not do the sensible thing and watch. I got too excited. I waded straight in against both of them. Hitmegood fled first. Then it was my turn. I went back to recover at the Music Temple. I had a sort of feeling that things might not be as safe here as I thought and a ‘wh boat’ showed me that three had suddenly become easily get-at-able and perhaps it was time to move.
Eviltharg was obviously looking for me, as he was loitering around the Deerpark and Lake Edge. I went after him, could not find him but soon realised he had found my CC. We soon met up in the Courtyard of the villa and had a good set to, yet again I fled and yet again I had possession of the CC, together with the pointers and the violin. I was soon back at the Music Temple intending to recover there. But realising that Eviltharg would be looking for me there, I decided to move camp.
Then tragedy struck for Hitmegood. Somehow he got taken out by a dwarf.
I moved to the Vicious Rocks which had served Sneaky so well earlier on and seemed to me to be a little safer. I had not fully recovered when Eviltharg was upon me. I did my best to get the longsword from him but with no success. Then he started to use it and I realised that it would only be a matter of time. I first lost my magic then my life.
